Learning to dive is basically a three – step process
1) Academic
Training
Five modules are covered in 2-3 sessions to teach you the basics of scuba
diving. Knowledge reviews after each module prepares you for the hour multiple-choice
quizzes and final exam.
2) Pool
Training
Demonstrate minimum water skills by treading water for 10 minutes and by either
swimming 200 yards (any stroke, no time limit) or 300 yards with mask, fins
and snorkel (still no time limit). This is followed by confined water training,
which will be completed in 2 sessions with a PADI Instructor demonstrating
diving skills in a comfortable pool environment. You will practice all skills
before heading out to open water.
3) Open
Water Training
Everything comes together for the open water class conducted over a weekend
at a local lake. Demonstrate mastery of the diving skills during four dives.
Begin to enjoy the underwater world!
Equipment Needed
Each student must have a mask, snorkel, weight belt, mouthpieces, and fins.
