The cost of learning to dive can be broken down into three parts:
Instruction, equipment purchase and travel. Learning to dive is likely to cost more if you plan on traveling to a tropical resort to complete your course which is an option.

* Course includes PADI instruction, open water manual, logbook, dive tables, student folder, student insurance, pool fees and PADI certification card.

How long does it take?
An entry-level certification course takes 30-40 hours to complete. A course may be conveniently scheduled over several evening classes, or a couple of weekends. There are private classes at your own pace but will cost a little more.

• September - the heart of Hurricane Season. Consider trip insurance for any travel to the Caribbean.

The only other costs to you include equipment, lake entry fees for open water training ($15-$20 per day) and a passport sized photo for your certification card.
